About Try Skirmishing

TrySkirmishing was set up in 2003 to bring the exciting world of Laser Skirmish to a venue near you.

Our mantra is simple, this is a Painless, Tactical, Fun activity, so why not TRY Skirmishing!! Laser Skirmish is perfect for Corporate Groups, Birthday Parties, Sports/Social Events and especially Stag & Hen parties.

We provide an outdoor tactical game of team based combat, also known as "Outdoor Laser Tag"l. Although the similarities end there, as with Laser Skirmishing the type of weapons, their range and the tactical element of the game is so much better.

Laser Skirmish is a team oriented combat simulation that is played in a variety of different locations such as urban, woodlands, snow fields or on purpose built battlefields.

With TrySkirmishing, participants can play stand-alone missions such as “Capture the Flag” or "VIP Escort" or simply have a "Free for All" of team on team combat.Each team is equipped with infrared weapons and sensors. Players shoot an invisible and harmless infrared beam, similar to the ones used in your TV remote control.

In addition, there is the ability to adjust the number of hit points on the weapon needed to "die" from anywhere from 1 through to 99. This makes a great sport even better as it permits incredible flexibility in the duration and nature of Missions. But when the weapon groans as a participant looses their last hit point - they are dead - there’s no cheating in this game!!

That’s why NO TWO TRYSKIRMISHING MISSIONS ARE EVER THE SAME.

Laser Skirmish itself, was made possible through a technological break-through in 1998 enabling an Infrared Beam to be focussed through a lens and travel much further than ever though possible, extending the range of these type of units from 50 metres to up to 200 metres!!!

This new ability to hit opponents at range, and in daylight, enabled outdoor Laser Skirmishing to be born. Our equipment utilises a 57.6 kHz carrier frequency modulated with a 1.8 kHz signal. The IR (Infra-Red) "beams" are at the safe end of the spectrum and are entirely harmless.

Laser Skirmish development has been influenced in playing style by Paintball, whereas the technology is an off-shoot of the indoor arenas. In many respects TrySkirmishing combines the best aspects of both activities.

TrySkirmishing is a fun team building sport. Functions catered for can range from Birthday Parties and Corporate Events to advanced Learning Activities; developing Communication and Leadership skills.
